Description

Campfire Apple Pie Packets are a delightful and easy dessert made with fresh apples, cinnamon, and a crunchy topping, perfect for cooking over a campfire.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large pieces of aluminum foil (about 12x12 inches)
  • 1 cup granola or crushed graham crackers
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your campfire or grill to medium heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, brown sugar, flour, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Lay a piece of aluminum foil on a flat surface. Place a quarter of the apple mixture in the center of the foil.
  4. Top with a quarter of the granola or crushed graham crackers and a few mini marshmallows.
  5. Fold the foil over the apple mixture to create a sealed packet, ensuring there are no openings for the juices to escape.
  6. Repeat this process for the remaining apple mixture and ingredients.
  7. Place the packets on the grill or campfire grate, cooking for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the apples are tender and the mixture is bubbly.
  8. Carefully remove the packets from the heat and let them cool for a minute.
  9. Open the packets and drizzle with caramel sauce if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a twist, try adding a pinch of nutmeg or a handful of chopped nuts for extra crunch.
  • You can also substitute pears for apples for a different flavor profile.
