• 1 large egg, whisked with 1 tablespoon water (for the egg wash)
• 4 string cheese sticks, each cut in half
• 8 wonton wrappers
1/2 cup marinara sauce (choose your favorite—store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  • Heat the Oil: In a medium skillet, heat the oil to 325°F (163°C). Ensure there’s enough oil so that the mozzarella sticks are partially submerged during frying.
  • Prepare the Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon water. This mixture will help seal the wonton wrappers.
  • Wrap the Cheese: Lay a wonton wrapper flat and brush its edges with the egg wash. Place a halved string cheese stick in the center. Fold the bottom edge over the cheese, then roll the wrapper tightly, pressing firmly to seal and eliminate any air pockets. Repeat this process for all cheese pieces.
  • Fry to Golden Perfection: Carefully place the wrapped cheese into the heated oil. Fry for about 1–2 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.
  • Drain and Serve: Remove the mozzarella sticks with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
