Ingredients
Scale
- 300 grams mozzarella cheese
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch powder
- 1 egg
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Cheese: Cut the mozzarella into bite-sized cubes.
- Coat with Cornstarch: Roll each cheese cube in cornstarch to ensure an even coating.
- Dip in Egg: Beat the egg in a bowl, then dip the cornstarch-coated mozzarella cubes into the egg mixture.
- Fry Until Golden: Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the mozzarella nuggets in small batches until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Drain & Serve: Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara, ketchup, or garlic aioli.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, freeze the coated cheese cubes for 15 minutes before frying.
- Use a thermometer to ensure the oil stays at 180°C (350°F) for the best results.
- Try different cheeses! While mozzarella is classic, cheddar, gouda, or Monterey Jack also work great.
- For a baked version, place the coated cheese cubes on a baking sheet and bake at 220°C (425°F) for 12-15 minutes.
