Description
Decadent Pecan Turtle Bars are a delicious treat combining the flavors of pecans, chocolate, and caramel in a soft, chewy bar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
- Spread half of the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter.
- Spoon the remaining batter on top, spreading it gently, and then drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a pinch of sea salt on top of the caramel before baking.
- You can also substitute walnuts for pecans if you prefer a different nut.
- For a fun twist, add a layer of shredded coconut on top of the chocolate chips before baking.
