Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 ml warm water
  • 1 packet (10 g) dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 600650 g flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Cornmeal (for dusting)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix warm water, dry yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add flour, salt, and olive oil, then stir until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Cover the dough and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  • Divide the dough into equal portions and roll out each piece into a thin, round shape.
  • Heat a dry skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle with cornmeal and cook each flatbread for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown and puffed.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, brush the flatbread with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt or herbs after cooking.
  • To store, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • If you prefer a softer texture, cover the freshly cooked flatbread with a clean towel to trap steam.
  • Works great as a base for flatbread pizza or as a side for soups and dips.
