Soft, chewy, and brimming with chocolatey goodness, Heart Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies are a delightful way to show someone you care. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or any special occasion, these cookies are both festive and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
    • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • ¾ tsp salt
    • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
    • ½ cup light brown sugar (packed)
    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
    • 1½ cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars:
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Beat on medium speed for 1–2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Add the eggs one at a time, beating until fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Incorporate Dry Ingredients:
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Use low speed to avoid overmixing.
  6. Add Chocolate Chips:
Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips using a spatula until evenly distributed.
  7. Scoop and Bake:
Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough for each cookie and place on the prepared baking sheet, leaving 2–3 inches of space between each scoop. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are slightly underdone.
  8. Shape Into Hearts:
While the cookies are still warm and soft, gently press a heart-shaped cookie cutter into each cookie to cut out the shape. Remove the excess scraps (great for snacking or toppings) and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5–7 minutes.
  9. Cool Completely:
Transfer the heart-shaped cookies to a wire rack and allow them to cool completely before serving or decorating.

Notes

  • Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for smoother mixing.
  • Work quickly with the cookie cutter while the cookies are warm for best results.
  • Leftover scraps can be enjoyed as-is or used as a topping for ice cream or yogurt.
  • Customize with white chocolate chips, sprinkles, or a drizzle of melted chocolate for a festive touch.
