Description
Delicious Pear and Gorgonzola Toasts topped with walnuts, perfect for an appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 2 ripe pears, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
- Toast the baguette slices in the oven for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crisp.
- While the bread is toasting, heat a small skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped walnuts and toast them for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are fragrant and lightly browned. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- On each slice of toasted baguette, layer a few slices of pear, followed by crumbled Gorgonzola cheese.
- Drizzle honey over the top of each toast, then sprinkle with toasted walnuts, fresh thyme leaves (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Serve immediately as an appetizer or snack.
Notes
- For a sweeter touch, add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the pears before assembling the toasts.
- Substitute the Gorgonzola with goat cheese or feta for a different flavor profile.
