Description
Sloppy Joe Delight is a classic comfort food made with ground beef, vegetables, and a tangy sauce, served on toasted hamburger buns.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey for a healthier option)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 medium green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- Optional: sliced pickles and shredded cheese for topping
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together.
- While the mixture simmers, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a separate skillet or under the broiler until golden brown.
- Once the Sloppy Joe mixture is ready, spoon it generously onto the toasted buns. Top with sliced pickles and shredded cheese if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Sloppy Joe Delight!
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground beef with lentils or a plant-based meat alternative.
- Add a splash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
