Description

Sloppy Joe Delight is a classic comfort food made with ground beef, vegetables, and a tangy sauce, served on toasted hamburger buns.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey for a healthier option)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional: sliced pickles and shredded cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together.
  5. While the mixture simmers, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a separate skillet or under the broiler until golden brown.
  6. Once the Sloppy Joe mixture is ready, spoon it generously onto the toasted buns. Top with sliced pickles and shredded cheese if desired.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your Sloppy Joe Delight!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground beef with lentils or a plant-based meat alternative.
  • Add a splash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
