For the Jello Layer:

  • 1 package (3 oz) strawberry gelatin (jello)
  • 1 cup boiling water

For the Topping:

  • 20 Golden Oreo cookies
  • 1 package (3 oz) strawberry gelatin (jello)
  • ΒΌ cup butter, melted

For Assembly:

  • 8 oz Cool Whip
  • 20 fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake Base:
    • Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions.
    • Prepare the strawberry cake mix as directed on the box. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch cake pan.
    • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Add the Jello Layer:
    • Immediately after removing the cake from the oven, poke holes all over the top using a skewer or the back of a wooden spoon.
    • Dissolve one package of strawberry gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water.
    • Pour the dissolved gelatin evenly over the warm cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
    • Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the jello to set completely.
  3. Make the Strawberry Crumble Topping:
    • Place the Golden Oreo cookies in a ziplock bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed cookies, the second package of strawberry gelatin, and melted butter. Stir lightly to create a crumbly mixture.
  4. Assemble the Cake:
    • Spread the Cool Whip evenly over the chilled cake, creating a creamy layer.
    • Sprinkle the strawberry crumble generously over the Cool Whip, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Top the cake with halved or whole fresh strawberries for a stunning presentation.
    • Slice the cake into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor and presentation.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before adding the Cool Whip to prevent melting.
  • For a finer crumble, pulse the Golden Oreos in a food processor.
