This simple yet delicious recipe is perfect as a side dish, snack, or a hearty meal when topped with your favorite ingredients. Whether you love it classic with butter and sour cream or fully loaded with cheese and bacon, this baked potato will never disappoint!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly.
  • Season & Pierce: Rub each potato with olive oil, then sprinkle evenly with salt and black pepper. Pierce a few times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  • Bake Until Tender: Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or a baking sheet. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the inside is soft when pierced with a fork.
  • Serve & Enjoy: Slice open, fluff with a fork, and add butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, bake the potatoes directly on the oven rack instead of a baking sheet.
  • Avoid wrapping in foil, as it traps moisture and prevents crispy skin.
  • To speed up cooking, microwave the potato for 5 minutes before baking.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for the best texture.
