Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (or as needed)
  • Butter (for greasing)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 300g minced meat (beef, chicken, or pork)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 100g grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or preferred type)
  • 1 bunch of parsley, chopped
  • 2 boiled eggs, chopped

For Assembly:

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or black seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling

    • Heat a pan over medium heat and melt a little butter.
    • Sauté the chopped onion until soft and golden.
    • Add minced meat, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Cook until fully browned.
    • Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in the grated cheese, chopped parsley, and boiled eggs.
  • Assemble the Pastry

    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
    • Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes (squares, rectangles, or circles).
    • Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each piece. Fold over and press the edges with a fork to seal.
    • Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  • Bake to Perfection

    • Arrange the pastries on a lined baking sheet.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
  • Serve and Enjoy

    • Let the pastries cool for a few minutes before serving.
    • Enjoy warm, either as a snack or paired with a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Make sure the filling is not too hot when assembling to prevent the pastry from becoming soggy.
  • These pastries can be frozen before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time when cooking from frozen.
  • Try different cheeses for unique flavors—feta for a salty kick, gouda for smokiness, or parmesan for extra depth.
