This soft and fluffy skillet bread is perfect when you need fresh bread in a hurry. Made with simple pantry staples, it requires no yeast, no eggs, and no oven—just a frying pan! Whether served alongside soups, salads, or as a sandwich base, this bread is incredibly versatile and ready in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 grams all-purpose flour (1 and 2/3 cups) or (7.05 ounces)
  • 5 grams baking powder (1 teaspoon) or (0.18 ounces)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 120 ml water (½ cup)
  • 1 tablespoon oil (olive oil or vegetable oil)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add water and oil, then mix until a dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each into a ball. Flatten each ball into a round, about ¼-inch thick.
  • Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Cook each piece of bread for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and puffed up.
  • Remove from the pan and serve warm with butter, cheese, or your favorite spreads.

Notes

  • Avoid over-kneading the dough to keep the bread soft.
  • For extra flavor, brush with garlic butter or sprinkle with herbs before cooking.
  • To store, wrap in a clean kitchen towel to maintain softness or freeze for later use.
