  • 4 bowls Sourdough or Italian Bread Hollowed out
For the Spaghetti
  • 12 oz Spaghetti Cooked al dente
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil For sautéing

  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 24 oz Marinara Sauce Homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup Water or Beef Broth Vegetable broth for a vegetarian version
For the Cheesy Goodness
  • 8 oz Mozzarella Cheese Shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Grated
For the Garlic Butter
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter Melted
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley Chopped, for garnish
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and hollow out the bread bowls.
  2. Brush the insides of the bread bowls with melted garlic butter and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Brown the ground beef (or sausage) with onions in a skillet, and add garlic towards the end.
  4. Add marinara sauce and beef broth to the skillet, letting it simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Cook spaghetti as per package instructions, then add to the sauce with mozzarella and parmesan. Mix well.
  6. Fill the toasted bread bowls with the spaghetti mixture and top with extra cheese.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving warm.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, use sautéed vegetables instead of meat and vegetable broth in the sauce.
