Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants preferably day-old
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and evenly distribute them in the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the croissant pieces.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissant and chocolate layers in the baking dish.
  • Gently press down on the croissant pieces to ensure they soak up the egg mixture.
  • Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of cinnamon to the egg mixture.
  • You can also substitute the chocolate chips with fruit like berries or bananas for a fresh twist.
