- 6 large croissants preferably day-old
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and evenly distribute them in the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the croissant pieces.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissant and chocolate layers in the baking dish.
Gently press down on the croissant pieces to ensure they soak up the egg mixture.
Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of cinnamon to the egg mixture.
- You can also substitute the chocolate chips with fruit like berries or bananas for a fresh twist.
