Method
Prepare the Bread:
- Remove the crusts from the bread slices.
- Flatten each slice with a rolling pin to create an even surface for rolling.
Make the Cinnamon Spread:
- In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.
- Spread a thin, even layer of the cinnamon mixture onto each slice of bread, leaving a small border around the edges.
Roll Up the Bread:
- Roll each slice tightly and press gently to seal the edges.
Prepare the French Toast Coating:
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
Cook the Roll-Ups:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 2–3 tablespoons of butter, allowing it to coat the skillet evenly.
- Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Place the roll-ups seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes, rotating frequently to brown all sides evenly.
Serve:
- Remove the roll-ups from the skillet and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with your choice of toppings or dips.
Notes
- Use Fresh Bread: Soft, fresh bread rolls easily without breaking.
- Avoid Overfilling: Too much filling may cause the roll-ups to leak during cooking.
- Cook on Medium Heat: Ensures the roll-ups cook evenly without burning.
- Customize Fillings: Add cream cheese, jam, or chocolate spread for extra flavor.
