For the Tea
  • 2 tea bags Strong Black Tea Earl Grey or chai can be used as alternatives.
For the Milk Mixture
  • 2 cups Water Essential for simmering figs and brewing the tea.
  • 1 cup Milk Use any preferred type, including nut milks.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Adjust to taste.
For Sweetness (optional)
  • Sweetener Add honey or syrup as desired.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Heatproof Container

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of water, ½ cup of chopped dried figs, and 2 tea bags of strong black tea. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then lower the temperature to simmer for 5–6 minutes.
  2. Once the tea has simmered, remove the saucepan from heat. Carefully strain the fig-tea mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a heatproof container, discarding the solids.
  3. In the same saucepan, pour in 1 cup of your chosen milk and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Slowly heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a warm temperature—don’t let it boil.
  4. Once the milk is warmed, pour it into the strained fig tea mixture and stir gently to combine.
  5. Pour the finished Fig Vanilla Milk Tea into your favorite cups or glasses. Serve immediately for a warm drink, or pour over ice for a chilled version.

Notes

Store prepared tea in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Combine just before serving for best flavor.
