Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Boil the water in a medium-sized pot over high heat for about 5-7 minutes until it reaches a rolling boil.
  2. Remove the pot from heat and stir in the cinnamon sticks and vanilla. Add star anise if using. Cover and steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Add loose-leaf black tea or tea bags to the pot and cover again. Steep for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  4. While steeping, heat the milk in a small saucepan over low to medium heat until warm but not boiling, about 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the tea and spice mixture into the saucepan with the warmed milk.
  6. Sweeten to taste with honey or sweetener, then pour into mugs and serve.

Notes

Experiment with spices like nutmeg or cardamom for variations. Store the tea in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze in ice cube trays for longer storage.
