Ingredients
  

Marinade
  • 1 pound Oyster Mushrooms Fresh, unblemished
  • 1 cup Buttermilk Or vegan substitute (soy milk + lemon juice)
Coating
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust based on taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper Freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin
Air Frying
  • 1 tablespoon Oil For brushing

Method
 

Marination
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Clean the oyster mushrooms under cold water and toss them in a bowl with buttermilk. Marinade for 15 minutes.
Breading
  1. In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cumin. Mix well.
  2. Dip each marinated mushroom in the flour mixture, return to buttermilk, then dip again in the flour mixture.
Cooking
  1. Lightly grease the air fryer basket and arrange the breaded mushrooms in a single layer. Air fry for 5 minutes.
  2. Brush mushrooms with oil and continue air frying for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Let the mushrooms rest for a couple of minutes after air frying to maintain crispiness and enhance flavors.
