For the Coating
  • 8 oz Low-moisture mozzarella cheese Cut into sticks
  • 1 cup Flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 2 large Eggs Beaten
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Panko preferred for extra crunch
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning
For Frying
  • 2 cups Vegetable or canola oil For frying

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Cut the mozzarella cheese into uniform sticks, about 3 to 4 inches long. Freeze for 30 minutes.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: first with flour mixed with salt and pepper, second with beaten eggs, and third with breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each cheese stick in flour, dip in the eggs, and roll in breadcrumbs.
  4. For extra crunch, double coat by dipping in eggs and rolling in breadcrumbs twice.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat to about 350°F (175°C). Fry cheese sticks until golden brown for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Remove fried mozzarella sticks and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately.

Notes

Serve with marinara sauce for dipping. Best enjoyed hot and fresh.
