Ingredients

For the Crab Sticks
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter Substitute with vegan butter for a dairy-free version.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic ensures optimum flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice Use lime juice for a different citrus twist.
  • 1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning Replace with a mix of paprika and celery salt if unavailable.
  • 1 lb Imitation Crab Sticks Fresh crab can be substituted but will alter preparation time and cost.
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil Any neutral oil can work as a substitute.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley Skip if unavailable or substitute with green onions.

Equipment

  • Large non-stick skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by slicing the imitation crab sticks into 1-inch pieces using a sharp knife. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Set aside.
  2. In a large non-stick skillet, pour in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Place skillet over medium heat until the butter has melted and begins to foam, about 2 minutes.
  3. Once the butter is foaming, stir in 3 cloves of minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until translucent and fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
  4. Increase the heat slightly and add the sliced crab sticks in a single layer. Allow to cook undisturbed for about 2 minutes until the edges turn golden brown.
  5. Gently toss the crab sticks to coat in the garlic butter, then sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of Old Bay seasoning. Stir carefully for even seasoning.
  6. Remove from heat and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Garnish with 2 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

Pat the imitation crab sticks dry before cooking to prevent steaming. Keep an eye on the garlic to avoid burning. Enjoy hot for the best flavor and texture.
