Preparation
- Warm the milk and mix in sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Combine all-purpose flour, yeast mixture, melted butter, vanilla extract, almond extract, and orange zest in a bowl. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for 1–2 hours until doubled.
- Punch down the dough, divide into four pieces, roll each into a circle, and stack with filling.
- Cut into a star shape, let it rise for 30 minutes on a baking sheet.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden.
- Prepare the caramel sauce by combining sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a saucepan, then add pecans after thickening.
- Drizzle warm caramel sauce over the bread and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
