Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, beat egg whites on medium speed until frothy (2-3 minutes).
  3. Add cream of tartar, increase the speed to medium-high, and beat until soft peaks form (2-3 minutes).
  4. Gradually add in the granulated sugar while the mixer runs on high speed until stiff peaks form (5-7 minutes).
  5. Gently fold in vanilla extract using a spatula without deflating the meringue.
  6. Transfer meringue into a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe onto the prepared sugar cookie bases.
  7. Bake for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours until firm and dry to the touch.
  8. Turn off the oven and let the cookies cool inside for at least 30 minutes before removing.
