  • 5 pieces Flour Tortillas 10" tortillas for easy rolling
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Substitute with Neufchâtel for lower-fat option
  • 1 can Diced Green Chilies Or substitute with diced jalapeños for more spice
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Alternatives: Monterey Jack or Mexican blend
  • 1/2 cup Red Onion Yellow onion can be used for a milder taste
  • 1 piece Bell Pepper Use any color bell pepper or jalapeños
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream Greek yogurt makes a great substitute
  • 1 tsp Paprika Smoked paprika gives a deeper flavor
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can substitute
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder Optional if using fresh onion
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Adjust according to heat preference

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, diced green chilies, cheddar cheese, red onion, bell pepper, sour cream, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Spread the filling evenly across each tortilla, roll tightly into logs, and cut into five pieces at a 45-degree angle.
  4. Place the cut antojitos seam-side down on the lined baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes.
  5. Adjust oven to broil on high and broil for about 5 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Let the antojitos cool for a few minutes before serving with basil pesto mixed into sour cream.

Notes

For easier spreading, chill the cheese filling before assembling. Customize fillings to suit your taste, adding cooked chicken or other veggies if desired.
