Method
 

  1. Soften the Bread
  2. Soak stale bread in milk until soft, then squeeze out excess liquid. If using breadcrumbs, mix them directly with milk until slightly moistened.
2. Mix the Ingredients
  1. In a bowl, combine the ground meat, egg, onion, parsley, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper with the softened bread.
  2. Gently mix with your hands until well incorporated but avoid overworking the mixture.
3. Shape the Patties
  1. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into oval patties, about ¾-inch thick.
4. Cook to Perfection
  1. Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Fry the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
5. Rest and Serve
  1. Let the Frikadellen rest for a few minutes before serving to retain their juiciness.
