Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried basil)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and milk until combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chopped parsley, basil, and red pepper flakes if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a cheesy twist, add 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese to the batter before baking.
  • For a more intense garlic flavor, increase the garlic powder to 2 teaspoons or add 2 minced garlic cloves to the wet ingredients.
