Cooking Steps
- Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a medium pot over medium heat. Add 1 finely diced onion and 3 minced garlic cloves. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
- Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, then add 1 cup of rinsed basmati rice. Stir well to coat and toast for 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in 2 cups of chicken stock, followed by ½ teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper. Stir gently and bring to a rolling boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for approximately 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Remove from heat and let sit covered for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
