  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Or Coconut Oil for dairy-free option
  • 1 medium Onion Finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder Adjust quantity if substituting with saffron
  • 1 cup Basmati Rice Or Long-Grain Rice, rinsed and drained
  • 2 cups Chicken Stock Or Vegetable Stock for a vegetarian version
  • ½ teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly cracked for best flavor
  • Parsley For garnish, optional

Cooking Steps
  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a medium pot over medium heat. Add 1 finely diced onion and 3 minced garlic cloves. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
  2. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, then add 1 cup of rinsed basmati rice. Stir well to coat and toast for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Pour in 2 cups of chicken stock, followed by ½ teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper. Stir gently and bring to a rolling boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for approximately 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  5. Remove from heat and let sit covered for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
