Ingredients

For the Dough:
  • 1 cup 240 ml fresh milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons 38 grams sugar
  • 2 teaspoons 6 grams instant yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups 320 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons 30 grams butter or margarine, softened
For the Garlic Butter Filling:
  • 1/2 cup 115 grams unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons 15 grams minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon 2 grams parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Method

Prepare the Dough:
  1. Warm the milk slightly (not too hot) and mix it with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the egg, softened butter, and yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Make the Garlic Butter Filling:
  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and sugar until well combined.
Shape the Bread:
  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions.
  2. Roll each portion into a ball or shape of your choice.
  3. Place the dough on a greased baking tray, leaving space for expansion.
  4. Brush each piece generously with the garlic butter mixture.
Bake to Perfection:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake the bread for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and fluffy.
  3. Brush with more garlic butter while warm for extra flavor.
Serve and Enjoy:
  1. Serve warm as a side dish, snack, or appetizer. Best paired with soups, pasta, or enjoyed on its own!
