For the Filling: Tofu Mix:
  • Extra firm tofu
  • Turmeric powder
  • Black salt or regular salt
Vegetable Medley:
  • Finely shredded carrots
  • Chopped scallions
  • Diced red bell peppers
  • Salt
  • Five-spice powder optional
  • Roasted sesame seeds
  • Toasted sesame oil
For Cooking:
  • Neutral oil
  • Water
  • Extra sesame oil or neutral oil for frying

Method
 

Prepare the Dough:
  1. Mix flour and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add warm water gradually, stirring until combined.
  3. Knead with oil until smooth, adding water as needed.
  4. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
Create the Flavorful Filling:
  1. Press tofu to remove excess moisture and mash.
  2. Sauté scallions, bell peppers, and carrots in sesame oil.
  3. Season with salt, sesame seeds, and five-spice powder.
  4. Add tofu, turmeric, and black salt, cooking until moisture evaporates.
  5. Mix everything together and let cool.
Shape the Wrappers:
  1. Knead the dough lightly, divide into 8 pieces, and roll into balls.
  2. Flatten each ball into a 5-inch circle.
  3. Place filling in the center and seal edges.
  4. Flatten gently for an even shape.
Pan-Fry to Perfection:
  1. Heat a pan with oil and cook pancakes until golden brown.
  2. Flip and cook the other side.
  3. Add water, cover, and let steam until fully cooked.
  4. Repeat for remaining pancakes.
