Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Small bowl
  • airtight container

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by slicing 600g of halloumi cheese into 1 cm thick pieces to ensure even cooking.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 5 tablespoons of honey with the juice of 1 medium lemon and the leaves from 4 sprigs of fresh thyme. Whisk until combined.
  3. Layer the halloumi slices in an airtight container, pouring the honey-lemon marinade over each layer. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Heat 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the marinated halloumi slices for about 2-3 minutes until golden.
  5. Flip the halloumi and add a bit of the reserved marinade to glaze the second side. Cook for an additional minute.
  6. Drizzle any remaining honey dressing over the top before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate overnight. Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Ensure medium heat for proper browning.
