Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 2 cups of milk and 1 cup of heavy cream. Stir gently while heating for about 5 minutes, until steam begins to rise.
- Add ½ cup of dark chocolate chips and ½ cup of white chocolate chips to the warm dairy mixture. Whisk continuously for about 2-3 minutes until the chocolates are fully melted and the mixture turns smooth.
- Gradually whisk in 2 tablespoons of sifted unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract. Stir for another 2-3 minutes on medium-low heat until all combined and steaming.
- Pour the Christmas Elf Hot Chocolate into festive mugs, and top with whipped cream and your favorite toppings like rainbow sprinkles or crushed peppermint.
Notes
Store leftover hot chocolate in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze in portions for up to 1 month. Reheat gently before serving.
