Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan by coating with unsalted butter or cooking spray, and lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until no lumps remain.
  3. In a larger bowl, melt the unsalted butter, then whisk in the granulated and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition, and then stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream until fully combined.
  5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined to avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in about 3/4 of the chocolate chips, then pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
