Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt until well combined. In a separate bowl, beat 3 eggs and mix in 1 cup of whole milk with 1/2 cup of melted butter. Gradually add this wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth and creamy without lumps.
  2. Bake the Cake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch sheet pan. Pour the cake batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  3. Make Tres Leches Mixture: While the cake cools, combine 1 cup of evaporated milk, 1 cup of sweetened condensed milk, and 1 cup of heavy cream in a bowl. Whisk until well blended and smooth.
  4. Assemble the Cake: Once the cake has cooled, poke several holes over the top and pour the tres leches mixture evenly over it. Let it soak for at least one hour.
  5. Prepare Churros: Combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a mixing bowl. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with 1/2 cup of butter and bring to a gentle boil. Add the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  6. Fry the Churros: Heat oil in a deep frying pan to about 375°F (190°C). Pipe 4-6 inch strips of churro dough into the hot oil, frying until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve the Cake: Sprinkle churros with sugar and cinnamon, then arrange on top of the tres leches cake. Enjoy!
