Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the matcha powder and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the whole milk. Start and end with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • This recipe serves 8.
  • For a richer flavor, consider adding ½ cup of chopped white chocolate or macadamia nuts to the batter.
  • You can also drizzle a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk over the cooled cake for added sweetness.
