Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup cooked pasta elbow or penne
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  5. Stir in salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the beef mixture. Stir in half of the provolone and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Top with the remaining cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
  • Add jalapeños for a spicy kick.
  • You can also use different cheese varieties like cheddar or Swiss for a unique flavor.
