Step-by-Step Instructions for Pho Tron
  1. Begin by finely chopping your crisp vegetables like lettuce, carrot, and daikon. Prepare your chosen protein by either shredding roasted chicken, cooking beef, or marinating tofu in soy sauce. In a small saucepan, combine broth, soy sauce, sugar, and vinegar, then heat over low until the sugar dissolves, creating a savory-sweet sauce for your pho tron.
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the silky rice noodles. Cook according to package instructions, typically around 3-5 minutes, until al dente. Once done, drain the noodles and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process. Toss them lightly with a splash of oil to prevent sticking, setting them aside for assembly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice noodles with the savory-sweet sauce you prepared earlier. Add in your cooked protein and gently toss everything together until all the ingredients are well coated.
  4. Just before serving, generously top your salad with fresh herbs like cilantro, Thai basil, and mint, along with your crisp vegetables for added texture. Sprinkle optional toppings such as crushed peanuts, fried shallots, and sliced chilies. Serve the pho tron in bowls with lime wedges on the side for a zesty finish.

Notes

For best flavor, taste the sauce before mixing, and adjust ingredients to preference. Keep noodles separate before serving for texture.
