  • 1 tablespoon Cream-Style Horseradish Adjust for spice
  • 1 cup Shredded Gruyère Cheese Swiss cheese as substitute
  • 1/3 cup Caramelized Onions Prepared in advance for convenience
  • 4 slices Bacon Cooked crispy and crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fresh Thyme Dried thyme as alternative

Equipment

  • Rolling Pin
  • sharp knife
  • baking sheet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by laying one sheet of defrosted puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to gently roll the pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness.
  2. Spread 1 tablespoon of cream-style horseradish evenly across the rolled-out pastry. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Gruyère cheese over the horseradish, followed by 1/3 cup of caramelized onions, half of the crumbled bacon, and 1/2 teaspoon of fresh thyme.
  3. Use plastic wrap to compress the layers gently, then roll the pastry from both long sides toward the center.
  4. Wrap the rolled pastry log in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or freeze for about 30 minutes.
  5. Once chilled, unwrap the dough and cut the log into 1/4-inch thick slices. Lay the slices flat on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and arrange the sliced palmiers on the baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow the Savory Palmiers to cool slightly before transferring to a serving platter. Serve warm.
