Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh sushi-grade tuna steaks
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)

Method

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the sesame oil, soy sauce, grated ginger, honey, and minced garlic to create a marinade.
  2. Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes at room temperature or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the tuna from the marinade and season both sides with salt, pepper, and sesame seeds.
  5. Add the tuna steaks to the hot skillet and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if desired.
  6. Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For added flavor, serve with a side of steamed vegetables or over a bed of rice.
  • Substitute the tuna with salmon or chicken for a different protein option.
