In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and form into balls. Place the balls in the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form patties. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until cooked through.
While the burgers are cooking, prepare the salad base. In a large serving bowl, combine the chopped romaine, cherry tomatoes, pickles, red onion, and shredded cheddar cheese.
Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Cut each patty into bite-sized pieces and add to the salad.
Drizzle the burger sauce over the salad and gently toss to combine. Top with diced avocado before serving.
