Ingredients

For the Cake:
  • 1 box strawberry cake mix
  • Eggs and vegetable oil as directed on the cake mix box
For the Jello Layer:
  • 1 package 3 oz strawberry gelatin (jello)
  • 1 cup boiling water
For the Topping:
  • 20 Golden Oreo cookies
  • 1 package 3 oz strawberry gelatin (jello)
  • ¼ cup butter melted
For Assembly:
  • 8 oz Cool Whip
  • 20 fresh strawberries

Method

Prepare the Cake Base:
  1. Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions.
  2. Prepare the strawberry cake mix as directed on the box. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch cake pan.
  3. Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Add the Jello Layer:
  1. Immediately after removing the cake from the oven, poke holes all over the top using a skewer or the back of a wooden spoon.
  2. Dissolve one package of strawberry gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water.
  3. Pour the dissolved gelatin evenly over the warm cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
  4. Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the jello to set completely.
Make the Strawberry Crumble Topping:
  1. Place the Golden Oreo cookies in a ziplock bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed cookies, the second package of strawberry gelatin, and melted butter. Stir lightly to create a crumbly mixture.
Assemble the Cake:
  1. Spread the Cool Whip evenly over the chilled cake, creating a creamy layer.
  2. Sprinkle the strawberry crumble generously over the Cool Whip, ensuring even coverage.
Garnish and Serve:
  1. Top the cake with halved or whole fresh strawberries for a stunning presentation.
  2. Slice the cake into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor and presentation.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before adding the Cool Whip to prevent melting.
  • For a finer crumble, pulse the Golden Oreos in a food processor.
