Step-by-Step Instructions for Garlic Thanksgiving Turkey
  1. Prepare Turkey: Bring your fully thawed turkey to room temperature for about 1 hour. Remove giblets and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 325°F (160°C) and ensure the rack is in the center.
  3. Season Cavity: Stuff the cavity with onion, lemon, rosemary, thyme, sage, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Make Herb Butter: Combine softened butter, garlic, salt, black pepper, rosemary, and thyme in a bowl.
  5. Apply Herb Butter: Rub herb butter under the turkey skin and over the outer skin.
  6. Set Roasting Bed: Layer chopped onion, celery, and carrots in a roasting pan as a bed for the turkey.
  7. Roast Turkey: Roast for approximately 15 minutes per pound until the thigh temperature reaches 158°F-160°F.
  8. Rest: Remove turkey from oven and let it rest for 30 minutes covered with foil.
