Ingredients

  • 600 g 21.16 oz puff pastry
  • 300 g 10.6 oz cream cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 200 g 7 oz feta cheese, crumbled
  • 100 g 3.5 oz pressed cheese, grated
  • 20 g 0.7 oz parsley, chopped
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 50 g 1.76 oz pressed cheese, grated (for topping)

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, minced garlic, crumbled feta, grated pressed cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Roll the Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a large rectangle. Slice the pastry into strips (about 2 inches wide).
  4. Fill and Roll: Place a generous amount of the cheese mixture onto each pastry strip. Roll them up tightly, sealing the edges to secure the filling.
  5. Brush with Egg: Brush the tops of each roll with the beaten egg for a glossy, golden finish when baked.
  6. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the grated pressed cheese over the rolls before baking for an extra cheesy crust.
  7. Bake: Arrange the rolls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. They are best enjoyed warm and fresh out of the oven!

Notes

  • You can customize the filling by adding spinach, olives, or roasted vegetables for a different flavor profile.
  • For a bit of spice, consider adding some chili flakes or hot sauce to the cheese mixture.
  • These rolls can be made ahead of time and frozen. Just bake them directly from the freezer for a quick and easy snack or appetizer.
  • If you prefer a vegan version, substitute the cheese and cream cheese with plant-based alternatives.
