Ingredients
Scale
For the Apple Slices:
- 2 to 3 large apples
- 2 rolls of puff pastry (approx. 500g / 17.6 oz)
- 1 egg, whisked
- 100g (½ cup) sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5g) cinnamon
Optional for Garnish:
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Caramel sauce (for drizzling)
- Slivered almonds (for crunch)
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples – Peel, core, and slice the apples thinly. Toss them with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll Out the Puff Pastry – Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into even rectangles or strips.
- Assemble the Slices – Place apple slices on half of the pastry pieces, then cover with another pastry layer. Press the edges together with a fork to seal.
- Brush & Bake – Brush the tops with whisked egg and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Garnish & Serve – Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, chill the assembled pastries for 10 minutes before baking.
- To prevent sogginess, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp that don’t release too much juice.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
- Pair with ice cream or whipped cream for an indulgent twist.
