Sizzling Rice-Wrapped Hotdogs with Cheese and Seaweed

  • 4 Sausages
  • 2 Bowls of Cooked Rice (enough to wrap around each sausage)
  • Cheese (slices or shredded, as preferred)
  • Dried Seaweed, finely chopped or shredded
  • For the Sauce:
    • 1 TBSP Soy Sauce
    • 2/3 TBSP Mirin (Cooking Wine)
    • 2/3 TBSP Corn Syrup or Honey


  1. Prep the Sausages: Start by gently scoring the sausages or poking them with a fork. This helps them cook evenly and absorb the flavors of the sauce.
  2. Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, and corn syrup (or honey) to create your glazing sauce. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Wrap the Sausages: Take about 1/2 bowl of cooked rice for each sausage. Flatten the rice on your palm or a piece of cling film, placing a slice or sprinkle of cheese in the center. Lay a sausage on top of the cheese, then carefully wrap the rice around the sausage, ensuring it’s fully covered. Repeat this process for each sausage.
  4. Apply the Sauce: Brush the rice-wrapped sausages with the prepared sauce, ensuring they are evenly coated.
